1-Feb-16 A suicide attack on Afghan National Civil Order Police in Kabul killed at least 20 people and another 29 were injured. Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
2-Feb-16 Home Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval met with a delegation of Muslim Clerics.
4-Feb-16 Afghan CEO Dr. Abdullah Abdullah visited India from 31 January- 4 February 2016 During this visit, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and EAM Smt Sushma Swaraj.
4-Feb-16 India submitted the Instrument of Ratification of the Convention on Supplementary Compensation for Nuclear Damage, 1997 to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the depositary of the said Convention, at Vienna. The Convention will come into force for India 90 days from the date of deposit of the ratification instrument.
4-Feb-16 India-Iran Foreign Office Consultation takes place in New Delhi. Talks were co-chaired by Indian FS S. Jaishankar and Iranian Deputy Minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour.
4-Feb-16 Defence Minister condoled Loss of Lives of Army men in an Avalanche at Siachen.
5-Feb-16 Smt. Sushma Swaraj co-chaired the 9th Session of the India-Sri Lanka Joint Commission meeting with her Shri Lankan counterpart Mr. Mangala Samaraweera in Colombo. 8th JCM was held in 2013.
6-Feb-16 Second International Naval Fleet Review (IFR2016) was conducted from 04 – 08 February 2016 at port of Vishakhapatnam. 49 foreign navies participated in IFR2016.
7-Feb-16 North Korea launches a long-range rocket.
8-Feb-16 India-Nepal Military Exercise Surya Kiran commenced at Pithoragarh. 14 day long, Ninth Surya Kiran exercise will be focused on enhancing interoperability in Jungle Warfare and Counter Terrorism operations in mountain terrain.
10-Feb-16 Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces) paid his first State Visit to India from 10 to 12 February.
11-Feb-16 The International Syria Support Group (ISSG) decided to start humanitarian access in besieged areas by this week, and an ISSG task force will within one week elaborate modalities for a nationwide cessation of hostilities. The ISSG reaffirmed their readiness to carry out all commitments set forth in the resolution, including to: ensure a Syrian-led and Syrian-owned political transition based on the Geneva Communiqué in its entirety; press for the end of any indiscriminate use of weapons; support and accelerate the agreement and implementation of a nationwide ceasefire; facilitate immediate humanitarian access to besieged and hard-to-reach areas and the release of any arbitrarily detained persons; and fight terrorism. The ISSG Meeting was held in Munich, Germany. The ISSG was formed after the beginning of the Syria peace talks in Vienna to resolve the internal crisis in Syria.
13-Feb-16 Baluch Americans held peaceful protest in front of White House against atrocities committed in Pakistan occupied Baluchistan by Pakistani Armed forces.
13-Feb-16 Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoglu said that Saudi Arabia is to send jets and military personnel to Turkey’s Incirlik Airbase over a mutual agreement, reported Turkish Newspaper Yeni Şafak. “We have been cooperating with Saudi Arabia in many fields, especially in defense, as we have very close relations with Qatar. Also despite having some problems with the United Arab Emirates, now we are recovering our ties. These cooperations have significance for the stability and the security of the region” Çavuşoğlu said. Incirlik Aibase is close to Syrian border.
15-Feb-16 INS Vikramaditya along with INS Mysore and INS Deepak reached Male (Maldives) on a four-day long goodwill visit. This is a second port call of INS Vikramaditya. Earlier in January Carrier Battle Group visited Colombo.
