Maoists demand release of JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar While Maharashtra police claims Umar Khalid’s link to Left Wing Extremists

Maoists (CPI-Maoists) have issued a press release to condemn the arrest of JNUSU JNU president Kanhaiya Kumar by the Delhi police on charges of sedition. A press release issued by Shrinivas, believed to be the PRO of CPI-Maoists, West Sub Zonal Bureau, North – South Gadhchiroli, demanded immediate release of Kanhaiya Kumar and called his arrest a conspiracy by Hindu fascists. Maoists have called Kanhaiya “innocent” and his arrest an attack on progressive and secular forces in the country. CPI-Maoists has appealed different sections of the society to come together against it.  The anti-Naxal operations wing of the state police has established the links of JNU student leader Umar Khalid with Left-wing extremists. Khalid is believed to have rushed to Nagpur to meet his JNU co-scholar Hem Mishra when he was released on bail. Arrested on suspicion of being a Maoist courier, Mishra got bail in September 2015 and Khalid had travelled to Nagpur to receive him outside the Central Jail. A photo of ‘Court’ lead  Actor Vira Sathidar, Umar Khalid and Hem Mishra went viral on social Media raising questions about Vira Sathidar’s links with Maoists and terrorists.
